Contest –

Open to all Massachusetts Fifth graders – public & private school

and

Charter or Home school equivalent. 

 

Essays –

    Minimum one full page - Essay may be submitted in writing, recorded or videotaped

Posters –

             8 ½” x 11” or larger - Any media – pencil, paints, etc. 

 

Theme: Archaeology related …

Some suggestions -

A Day in the Life … of ancient people

How it was done … e.g.  Making a shelter, Making clothing, Hunting-Fishing-Gathering

Early Agriculture, Food preparation, Tools made and used, etc. or....  

A 21st century student transported back 10 thousand years … Can You !!!   Survive that is …!!

 

You would have … nothing … no grocery store, no malls, no computers … no modern tools …

 

What would you do first ?! What next ?!  Shelter ? Food ? Safety !?  Fire !?   How !!?   

 

What’s the landscape like ?  What animals are available for hunting ?  What are the dangers ?

 

What animals are hunting you !

Students receiving awards and their entries may be featured in the MAS Newsletter and/or on the MAS website. Please submit a parental note authorizing this use with each submission.

NOTE –

If desired, to promote class participation, an in-school Archaeology session can be arranged (for any     interested groups) prior to the submittal date … or, may be scheduled now for another time.
